I don't know if any of you are aware but there is a relatively new air rifle distributors based in Bury St Edmunds who are responsible for the TAU range of air rifles. Chris has been in contact with them to see if they would like to demonstrate this new model down the club. I enclose a transcript of their reply:

Hi

I can make Sunday 26th April and 3rd May if these dates are any good.

The demo MK300 is set up for HFT. Would it better to re-scope it for FT use, or would it be OK as it is?

I've a few FT scopes / wheel / mounts and parts in stock to add to it if needed.

Chris suggested that it is scoped for FT in case people want to check it out at the max 55 yds .
If either of those dates are any good, Chris will ping them a confirmation note .

Personally, I favour the May date, this will give us a bit of time to advertise the demonstration to the members.

Chris received this message from the TAU distributors:

'Thanks for the update. I can bring my MK300 over on the 3rd of May - give me details of time/place etc.

I am just kitting it out with a scope with side wheel - just working on basic range finding marks/clicks etc. so would like to have ago at your FT course while I am there.

I only have Black T50 scopes at present (can discount a bit on these) -

I can bring over one to look at as well as out Ultra Ft stocks for the Air Arms.'

Imagine how light that would be. The full rifle barely weighs a thing as it is!

One concern about it is that it looks like the action is so far back in the stock that ones face will miss what cheek piece there is completely and will be resting on the scope rail. Saying that though, it might be beneficial as a higher level cheek piece could be attached straight to the scope rail.

I wonder if it comes with an accessory rail under the forend like the full size rifle does? I reckon it'll need it.

Good points. I'm not sure the bullpup route is the way to go for me anymore since my sitting position doesn't seem comfortable with one and I don't really want to start shooting off the knee.

Maybe I'll have to have a rethink.

Doesn't look like much room to fit an accessory rail. The price of £750 is very good, I wonder how many shots you get from it.

Matt from sureshot emailed me and told me it's a prototype and that it's only available on special request.
